What GTA VI Game Awards 2026 eligibility depends on

Rockstar Games says Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled to launch on Nov. 19, 2026. The Game Awards’ FAQ says games in most categories must be commercially available to customers by Nov. 20 at 9 p.m. Pacific Time.

The announced launch date is just ahead of that cutoff. But since the release is still in the future, whether the game will be available by the deadline is not yet certain.

How nominees and winners are selected

For most categories, an international jury of more than 100 media and influencer outlets selects nominees. Each outlet submits a confidential, unranked ballot listing its top five choices per category. The five games appearing on the most ballots become nominees; ties can expand the list. Some categories use specialized juries.

Winners are determined by a combined vote: 90% jury and 10% public fan voting. So even if GTA VI meets the timing requirement, its chances of winning would still depend on the nomination and voting process.
